Lucian Plesea graduated from the Polytechnical Institute of
Bucharest, Romania, in 1991 with an M.S. degree in Electrical
Engineering. He came to the US in 1992 and worked for the
Superconducting Super Collider Laboratory as a Control Engineer, and
for the Texas National Research Laboratory Commission as a Unix System
Administrator. He joined JPL in November 1995 and has worked on several
high performance computing R&D tasks, including Global Grid,
Synthesis Force Express, and Power Wall Movie Player. He is currently
working on generating a very high resolution OpenGIS global Earth base
image from year 2000 Landsat data, and on issues related to access to
multi-terrabyte datasets
