Desktop Access toHigh Performance Visualization
- Bring high-performance visualization directly to the scientists desktop.
- A simple working web-based image server is shown here (in this case, serving our IRAS mosaic).
- To remotely access the image mosaics, stored on disks at JPL, the scientist requires no special hardware and no software other than the ubiquitous web browser.
- Server based on the OpenGIS Web Mapping Testbed (WMT) concept adopted for Digital Earth.
- Since WMT is a specification intended for serving terrain images, we will need to expand and modify it to better suit Digital Sky.
