James B. Collier received his B.A. in Mathematics from Carleton
College in Minnesota (1966) and his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the
University of Washington in Seattle (1972). He spent one year as a
postdoctral fellow at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia and four
years on the faculty at the University of Southern California. In
1977 he joined the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the Navigation Section
in order to work on the Voyager Project. He moved to the Advanced
Laboratory for Parallel High-Performance Applications (ALPHA) group in
1995, now known as the Parallel Applications Technologies (PAT) group.
